On September 7, the 7th Asia-pacific Geoparks Network Symposium kicked off in Sandun Global Geopark, Thailand. The theme of the conference is "United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Global Geoparks: Building Sustainable Communities". Because of the epidemic prevention and control policies and requirements, the meeting to take the "Offline + online" approach.
At the meeting, around the theme of the conference, representatives of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Global Geoparks Secretariat, the Executive Board of the Global Geoparks Network, the asia-pacific Global Geoparks Network and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Global Geoparks Youth Forum made keynote presentations. During the conference, the organizers will also hold special academic exchanges, poster exhibitions, geological exhibitions, intangible cultural heritage exhibitions and other activities.
Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network (APGN) is a regional network organization of Global Geoparks in Asia and the Pacific, and an important part of the Global Geoparks Network. Currently, there are 177 Global Geoparks in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization world, of which 66 are members of the asia-pacific Geoparks Network.
The Asia-Pacific Geopark Congress is held every two years. The first six sessions were held in Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, China and Indonesia, to provide an effective platform for scientific researchers and managers of Geoparks in the asia-pacific region to exchange and share their experiences.
