World Car Free Day is an event initiated by the French Minister of Land Improvement and Environment, Mrs. Dominique Vane. It was first held on September 22, 1998, and has since been attended by numerous cities from various countries every year on September 22.
On 'Car Free Day', participating cities will mainly increase public awareness of environmental protection, understand the hazards of air pollution, and encourage people to use cleaner transportation tools to further improve their quality of life by restricting motor vehicles from entering urban areas, establishing pedestrian and bicycle zones, and holding other related activities.
Although the energy savings of the "World Car Free Day" event on September 22nd are limited, when environmental awareness is deeply rooted in people's hearts and turned into conscious environmental protection practices, it will make a huge contribution to the global energy conservation and emission reduction cause.
