It is a colossal ancient landslide. Its profile exhibits a stepped shape, and its plan view resembles a tongue. The back wall, shaped like a "surrounding chair", reaches a height of 120 to 160 meters. When viewed from the opposite bank of the Yellow River, it presents a magnificent sight. The residual landslide body has an estimated total volume of approximately 1.416 billion cubic meters. Two major movements occurred in this landslide, one was about 50,000 years ago and the other was about 30,000 years ago. The former landslide resulted in the formation of a landslide lake in the middle-rear part of the sliding mass. The development characteristic, formation mechanisms and evolutionary process of this colossal ancient landslide provide an ideal location for studying large scale landslides and climate change in the upstream Yellow River region.
