The Palace-style Danxia Landform in the Zhiehe Temple

It was formed on red sandy mudstone 55 million years ago. Due to the fracture cutting and gravitational collapses of near-east-west, a "stone castle" with a length of about 1000 meters and a height of about 30-80 meters is formed. The top of this formation resembles the roof of a palace, with blocky mudstone eroded by wind and water, while the surrounding rock walls exhibit well-developed nearly vertical mud stalagmites, resembling stone pillars of a palace corridor. Additionally, the presence of harder interlayers protruding from differential weathering on the cliff surfaces further enhances the palace’s appearance when viewed from a distance. Hence, it is named the "Palace-style Danxia".
