Located in the upper reaches of Longwu River, a first-level tributary of the Yellow River, the reservoir has a total storage capacity of 43.5 million cubic meters.  The dam is 72 meters high, with an annual average generating capacity of 35.43 million kilowatt-hours.  The reservoir is the largest project about comprehensive water source, water regulating and storing, livelihood in Longwu River Basin, which is beneficial to solve the drinking water, irrigated farmland and flood prevention. And is of great significance for promote the ecological governance, water conservation, basin hydropower development and local tourism development.
